Highlights of Day 1 from Round 2 of the 2016/2017 HSBC Sevens World Series in Cape Town (South Africa) on December 10th 2016.

Only 4 teams remain unbeaten: South Africa (same as in Round 1, Dubai), Fiji (same as in Round 1, Dubai), Scotland and New Zealand.

For the second tournament in a row – it’s USA’s Perry Baker who features highly on the DHL Performance Tracker after Day 1 in stunning Cape Town. Leading the United States in place of Madison Hughes (being rested following a busy 15s & 7s year), Baker featured prominently in the Eagles pool victories over Australia (19-0) and Russia (26-17). South Africa defeated the USA 28-10 in another physical match-up, but it sees the USA into the Cup Quarterfinals – taking on Scotland on Day 2.

The home side are still the only unbeaten team on the World Sevens Series in the 2016/2017 season – and will want a massive performance to defend their 2015 Cape Town 7s title! Read the full report from Day 1 here.
